WHO WE HELP / GOVERNMENT SUPPLIERS
Cyber assurance for government and public sector suppliers.
Cyber Essentials or Cyber Essentials Plus may be required for certain public sector contracts, where specified by the buyer or procurement process. We help organisations understand the requirement, assess readiness, close gaps, and approach certification with clarity.
PROCUREMENT REQUIREMENTS
What PPN 014 means for your business.
Procurement Policy Note 014 sets out UK government guidance for applying Cyber Essentials or Cyber Essentials Plus requirements to certain public contracts considered higher risk or with cyber-security characteristics. Where the requirement applies, suppliers may need to hold Cyber Essentials, Cyber Essentials Plus, or demonstrate equivalent controls before contract award.
Cyber requirements can also flow through public sector supply chains, including prime contractors and sector-specific procurement frameworks. For affected suppliers, certification may become a practical prerequisite for bidding, onboarding, renewal, or continued contract eligibility.
WHY IT MATTERS
Why certification matters for government suppliers.
Contract eligibility
Cyber Essentials or CE Plus may be required for certain public sector, MOD-related, NHS, or supplier assurance contracts where specified by the buyer.
Supply chain compliance
Prime contractors increasingly require Cyber Essentials from their subcontractors and suppliers.
Data handling requirements
Organisations handling Government Data, connecting to government systems, or supporting sensitive services may be asked to demonstrate baseline security controls.
Renewal currency
Certificates must remain current. A lapsed certificate can create procurement, renewal, or supplier assurance issues where current certification is required.
